Holiday! out of office for two weeks
Today I leave for vacation. Almost 14 days in Thailand, I'll take a diving course. Yeah, look forward to it and this will be my longest holiday sice a few years.
I'll not be available via my spreadshirt e-mail in the meantime, my mail account will be checked by constanze, my assistant. Constanze knows me very well and will handle easier requests (take decision, forward to the right people) for the time I'm away so I'll not drown in e-mails when coming back.
In urgent cases I can be contcted via Constanze.
last week I was in munich to the internet world conference.
In the evening the 'onlinestar' was awarded, and I got a special price for being Germans 'Internet Entrepreneurs of the Year'. WOW! The price was mainly for spreadshirt but also for my activities with studiVZ (non exec-co founder & seed investor) as well as for me blogging about the entrepreneurial community (gruenderszene.de).
I am very proud of this price! but was busy to blog & brag about this in the last days...
however, the onlinestar is like the oscar for the internet in germany and besides the 'deutscher internet preis' the most prestigious thing in germany's internet space. cool! thank's a lot to all jury members, you made me a few days last week :)
studiVZ got a price as well, btw. below a picture of myself and ehssan.
This Wednesday evening I have a cool meeting… ‘Die Zeit’, one of Germany's
most renowned weekly newspapers (target group are intellectuals, also a lot
of (allegedly ;) smart students are reading it) likes to use me in one of
their upcoming campaigns. I think they take successful people from various
fields and feature them as 'Zeit' readers. So, I will be with a picture and a
short description on a full ‘Zeit’ page. Wow.
There will be a fotoshooting tomorrow evening in Düsseldorf. The 'Zeit' people and
the agency (grey.de) are very nice and very professional.
They pay me travel expenses as well as a generous ‘Aufwandsentschädigung’.
A full page feature and I will be even paid for it, wow, life is good :-)
broken cheekbone - autsch!
since a blog is like a diary, I have to blog stuff that I would write into a dairy if I would have one... today is one of such days & entries.
I broke my cheekbone while fooling around in pittsburgh 2 weeks ago (falling on my face...). did not even noticed that it's broken till a few days ago, since the bone was only broken but not moved (verschoben) at first. But after biting some hard stuff it moved, and now I can open my mouth maybe only 3/4 as far as usual and can bite/ chew only on the left side. does't really hurt but needs to be fixed which involes surgery under full anasthaesia. autsch! this will happen on monday and I look very much forward to it since I never was treated in a hospital before and never had any surgery. Being of curious nature I like new experiences like this... o.k., just kidding, would be happy to skip this particular one.
I will be knocked of on Monday, and lying around in the hospital on Tuesday. hope that mic got my message and will provide me with his UMTS card.
have fun & pray for me on monday (mark promised, after he heard that I have surgery which I thought is very nice, even though I'm not religious myself it still feels good).
Maybe I'll post some pictures later...
Busy and secretive...
There was no entry in my blog for some time.
Reason is, that being a CEO of a fast growing interent start up takes a lot of time. Often I'm simply to busy or exhausted for writing.
also, it's sometimes hard to write what you would like to, since you do not like the competition to know what is going on in your mind.
and to write about stuff that is not very important for me would be boring.
anyone knows any other ceo's with a blog, pls. comment, me is too busy for a google search on my own ;) Would love to see how they handle being confidential.
Welcome to, eeeeh, working title is lak's world
Hello, this is my first blog entry and it feels very exciting. Almost like the first day in school or... whatever, it's nice.
So this will be my blog about stuff that bothers me and that I like to share with the public or at least some part of it, I guess.
So, what this blog will be all about?
First, since I'm founder and CEO of spreadshirt, a German based E-commerce start up with operations in Europe and the US, some chunk of this blog will be about my entrepreneurial adventures specific to spreadshirt as well as entrepreneruship in general.
Also, I'm interested in more things like science, politics, entertainment, and whatever whatever and even much more, so this probably will be reflected here somehow, too.
Again, I'm very very excited. I probably feel like Alan Shepard (whoever this is, the name just came to my mind. I could google it, but no, it would be no fun. hope he is no embarassing stuff, like a child abusing gay. wait, would that be embarassing? probably not, just too freaky...) or like Michael watching Neil and Buzz or like Alcock and Brown or like... you name it!
Welcome and enjoy!
